Role Description
The Construction Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive construction plans for high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation projects. This includes detailed scheduling of civil, structural, and associated electrical infrastructure works, ensuring alignment with project milestones and critical delivery dates. The role requires close coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, and quality teams to monitor progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain on-time and within-budget project execution. The planner will play a pivotal role in tracking progress on civil works, equipment foundations, cable trenches, control buildings, and associated substation infrastructure, providing regular reporting and updates to project leadership.
Qualifications/Competencies
National Diploma or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
3–8 years’ experience in construction planning/scheduling, preferably with HV/EHV substation or heavy industrial infrastructure projects.
Strong proficiency in MS Project, with experience creating cost- and resource-loaded schedules and monitoring progress against critical milestones.
Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, or GCC contract conditions is advantageous.
Solid understanding of procurement processes and integration with construction schedules.
Ability to occasionally work on-site to monitor progress and coordinate with construction teams.
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a complex project environment.
